Born and raised in Manitoba, I was a shy, small-town prairie girl who needed, as the Dixie Chicks would say, “Wide Open Spaces” (Unusual fact: I’m a closet country music fan who grew up listening and dancing to old-school rap and hip-hop.). I eventually moved to Calgary for a few years and then itching for something new, I went and sailed the ocean for a while, working on a cruise ship (Another fact: I am currently writing a book about that adventure.).
Sometimes life experiences are the best education and I learned a lot on my travels. But life brought me back to the prairies so I could meet my knight in shining armour. Yes, they do exist! After many heart breaks, and the unfailing belief that “he is out there somewhere”, he finally arrived in Calgary. Armando, born and raised in Mexico with a drive to succeed, he had just received a job transfer with his company and moved to Cowtown…”to meet me”, he says was the reason for his pit stop in Calgary. Two years later, he whisked me away to the West Coast where we have been living and loving life.
We both share a passion for travel, food, the urban life, long walks, wine and avoiding housework at all costs. But we can be very opposite in some aspects such as risk taking, organizational skills, how to make guacamole or how to load the dishwasher. There are also many cultural differences that pop up along the way that makes life interesting. We are both very sensitive and stubborn, we definitely don’t see eye-to-eye at times, often chalking it up to, “Lost in Translation”. But we are a weirdly perfect duo who try to live the best life we can with lots of love, laughter and fun along the way!
This is my creative outlet where I share our adventures, funny moments and perhaps my own personal insights on things I feel like writing about. And my dear Armando often provides funny moments in our life for me to share at his expense so I am grateful of his support and the material he provides. 🙂 He makes life more grand and beautiful than I already thought it was. Love you, Armandito!
